Hi,
Hi,
Could you tell me what is a good facial cleanser for acne prone skin?
Thank,Suzanne

Hi Suzanne,
That's a good question. Most acne cleanser are too harsh and over-drying causing more problems in the long run.
This Gentle Cleansing Cream is a vegetable based, pH balanced cleanser that is good for sensitive acne skin, along with other skin problems like rosacea. It helps reduce irritation, redness and inflammation.
Thanks,

I was acne free most of my life until my early 30s when I developed cystic acne all around my jawline. Not only did it look terrible, being covered in big, angry red lumps, but it also made my skin hot and painful. Being in my own face hurt!
Miserable!
I tried a few products - mainly gentle washes, a few over the counter products like oxy10 and supplements like zinc but nothing worked.
I knew that I needed to find out what was causing the breakouts in the first place and that was when I discovered the Paleo Diet for Acne, which explains the role of sugar and insulin response in causing acne.
Since then, I've been on the Paleo Diet, which mainly involves just eating fruit, veggies and animal protein (no pasta, rice, grains or dairy products).
As the book said, my skin cleared up within 2 weeks and I haven't had a problem since. After a year, I'm not as strict on the diet anymore but I know when I'm straying too far off the path as I'll start getting the cystic acne back.
After suffering as I did, I can't recommend The Paleo Diet enough.
Thanks Kristi for sharing that. The diet sounds logical... when you cut out simple carbs and grains, you will naturally increase your intake of fruits and veggies - which are loaded with vitamins and minerals.
Many of my visitors have also told me they got good results when they took certain herbs and vitamins in addition to a healthy diet.
Please help with suggestions for acne prone sensitive skin that is very dry too.
Hello,
Thanks for your post regarding acne and dry skin. This is a VERY tough problem because most acne products aim to "dry the skin" or reduce oil production in hopes of clearing up acne. However, oil is not the only cause of acne breakouts.
The key to treating dry skin acne is to treat it gently and not just by reducing oil production. So you need to:
1. Exfoliate the top dead pore clogging skin cells that usually cause breakouts. But not over dry the skin. A botanical scrub is a good idea.
2. Balance and evenly distribute oil levels on the skin, not remove it completely.
3. Regulate bacteria growth - that is what feeds the acne!
4. Help prevent acne from within too by taking balancing herbs such as milk thistle to help keep the liver and lymph nodes functioning properly.
