Face Exercises - Do They Really Work? The debate over whether or not facial exercising works or can actually make wrinkles deeper has been going on for years. Some plastic surgeons and dermatologists feel that wrinkles and sagging skin are simply due to aging and a breakdown of skin fibers, elastin, and collagen due free radical damage. Many don't believe that exercising the face can prevent or reverse this process. However, proponents of facial exercising say that it helps to:
Also, facial exercises that incorporate a massage helps to distribute oils evenly. This is great for those with dry or oily patches on the skin.
I have to be honest, at first I was afraid to do any type of facial exercises. The idea of pulling, massaging, or rubbing my skin was scary. We have been taught for so many years not to pull or touch the skin on our face. Yet, I noticed something interesting....people who regularly had massages and engaged in exercise or weight training seemed to have firmer tighter skin. Especially, as they got older....they didn't seem to have that typical sagging of the back upper arms, neck, and inner thighs. So why would this concept be any different for our face?
Then I started to do some research and while there isn't a ton out there - there are some interesting studies supporting the benefits of daily facial exercises and massages. Finally, I looked at the faces of those who perform facial exercises regularly..........their toned, firm, youthful face and neck convinced me that there is something to this whole face exercise concept and that there is a lot of misinformation floating around. Most of these people are over 60 years of age and look incredibly young - but most important - natural. Latest ResearchOn "The Early Show Saturday Edition"'s there was a special New Years day broadcast with guest speaker Dr. Hilary Reich, a New York dermatologist. She talked about the newest tips and ideas on having healthy, younger-looking skin. When asked for her opinion for the best wrinkle cure cream on the market she said: "The truth is that we just don't know. More studies are desperately needed."
However, she did state that there are some new studies indicating that protein secretions from snails(yes snails!) - which contain growth factors - might be helpful in stimulating collagen production, repairing sun-damaged tissues especially - around the eyes, and just overall improve elasticity and texture of the skin. But more studies will need to be done to validate some of these claims. Stay tuned to future newsletters for updates on this new study...
So in the meantime, what type of wrinkle cream is best? She suggests that for now our best bet is to stick with products that contain the following ingredients:

I have come across an entire line of skin care products produced by the facial exercise guru Carolyn Cleaves. She has researched and created a line of “natural sourced” products loaded with antioxidants and pure vitamin C crystals.
"Natural Sourced" means these ingredients are made from a natural or organic source and are not artificially processed; or they are organically certified.
